Description
Haybales in a field near Tyrley, Shropshire.
Feel free to rip into this one! I am not liking it very much...
What went wrong? Thought the subject was strong enough but in hindsight theres just not enough in it. I tried to make the sky more moody because the original was flat blue and i'm not sure that it worked.
I tried using a limited palette - ultramarine and raw sienna.
But the worst thing about it is... Hot Press paper - yuck! its smooth, no texture and the paint dries really quick and sits on the surface so more washes blended with the layer beneath! Unless you put them on with hardly any brushwork. I won't be using it again...

I really like the sense of light we're getting in the bottom half of this picture, also the forms of the haybales are looking really nice, I like the almost architectural quality they lend to the composition.
