A purple iris flower from Bodnant Gardens in North Wales. I loved the curling shape of the petals, closing up like curled fingers. Plus it had those purple Zebra stripes on the inside of the petals that looked fun to paint. I used tissue paper to 'blot' the green paint in the background to give it a softer appearance.
Created using Aquamarker watercolour markers on a type of watercolour paper I was not used to, the strange surface sizing that made the paints dry quickly and the markers 'stain' the paper a bit (see top corners) so I don't think i'll be using it again - back to the Bockingford 190gsm!
