Character  Morrigan

Description

A witch or Sorceress with a 1970's Disco flavour!?!

This one took shape early in my sketchbook. The big afro hair happened first, then the lightning bolts and then the shoulder feathers (inspired by, yup, you guessed it Morrigan, DAO).  The green hair came out of the fact that i did NOT want to use all the colours i've got this time so thought of a complementary colour scheme but then pretty much went for 'analagous' colours (close on the spectrum, i think). Although, she might be influenced by Polaris from the X-Men...
Sharpies and cheap felts.

Augh! How'd I miss this? Anyway, Gee, this is brilliant, especially the way in which you attack light, brightness, and highlight in your marker excursions, and I need to learn the same. You use a very well-trained watercolorist method of light-to-dark build, and I need to start attacking my drawings the same way! I really like the "shine" you've designed into the feathers, into the gold jewelry, into her neck and shoulders.

The figure/idea is totally wonderful, and contains the right mix of realism and graphic/comic stylization! I'm absolutely nutty for the hatchy-build of the night sky, in-between the bolts of lightning, and that "molded" hair style, and her wonderful long face! Sorry that I missed this when you posted it, but it's terrific, Sir!

Ah, Polaris, she had some nice green hair, didn't she?
